11-23-14 Burning Gourd Ornaments

WHAT I LEARNED:

1. I’m using a Razertip woodburning tool. I’ve had it for a couple of years and seemed to struggle with it and felt like I had to turn it up too high for what I was doing. I was researching other tips (thinking I needed a different type of tip to solve my problem) and learned that the burner has another adjustment for heat. I turned that up today and it was like working with a different tool. Much, much better. I think I will still get a new smaller tip though since I’m working on these small gourds.

2. The gourds are now a couple years old and are fully dry. They seem to burn better.

3. Burning gourds is smelly business. I had to take a shower and I can still smell it on my skin.

INSPIRATION/REFERENCE

I got my Razertip from Sue Walters but there are other distributors as well.
